Terms of use and license

Effective 14 October 2026

These terms cover the GrabCanvas software and the grabcanvas.com website. They are written to be read, not skimmed; the whole thing takes about three minutes.

1. Parties

"We" and "us" means C. Kerger, trading as GrabCanvas, San Francisco, California, United States. "You" means the person or organization using the software or the site.

2. Trial

You may download and use GrabCanvas without a license key to evaluate it. The trial includes every feature, lasts 7 days, and watermarks exported images and recordings. Using the trial as a permanent replacement for a license is not what it is for.

3. License

When you buy a license or receive a launch license, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use GrabCanvas on the computers you personally use, on Windows, macOS and Linux. A license is for one named person. Organizations need one license per person who uses the software. Volume and team licenses are agreed by email.

You may not resell, sublicense, rent or share license keys; remove or alter the license mechanism; reverse engineer the software except where the law allows it regardless of this clause; or use the software to break the law.

4. Updates

Your license includes all updates released within six months of the date you buy it. The license does not expire, and the version you have continues to work after that; updates released later are not included. We may stop supporting operating system versions that their vendors no longer support.

5. Launch licenses

Launch licenses are given free to the first 100 people who claim one and are otherwise identical to paid licenses. We may ask launch license holders for feedback once; answering is optional. One launch license per person.

6. Your content

Everything you capture, record or annotate is yours. GrabCanvas does not upload it and we never see it. You are responsible for what you capture and share, including other people's personal data and copyrighted material.

7. Refunds

Full refund within 30 days of purchase on request. See the refund policy.

8. Warranty and liability

GrabCanvas is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we do not promise it will be error-free or suit every purpose. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from the software or the site is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. The website

The text and images on grabcanvas.com are ours unless noted. You may quote and reuse product screenshots in reviews and articles with a link back. Competitor names and marks belong to their owners and are used only to describe comparisons.

10. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the current version is always at this address with its effective date. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute is heard in the courts of San Francisco County, unless consumer law where you live says otherwise.
