About GrabCanvas

GrabCanvas is an independent screenshot, annotation and screen recording app for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is built in San Francisco by C. Kerger, and it is sold the old way: you pay once and you own it.

Why it exists

Screenshot tools used to be something you bought. Over the last few years the best-known ones moved to subscriptions, the free ones stayed stuck on one operating system, and the "turn screenshots into a guide" tools turned into browser SaaS products with per-seat pricing. If you work across a Windows PC, a Mac and a Linux box, as a lot of support engineers, IT admins and technical writers do, nothing covered all three without a monthly bill.

GrabCanvas is the tool we wanted for that job: capture anything (including a page that scrolls), annotate it with numbered steps and blur, record a short video when a still won't do, copy text off any screen, and export a finished how-to with the image. One $29 license, three platforms, no account.

Principles

Who makes it

C. Kerger designs and builds GrabCanvas from San Francisco, California. Before GrabCanvas, the same itch produced years of hand-stitched scrolling screenshots and support replies that said "see attached" far too often.

Questions, bug reports and feature requests are welcome at info@grabcanvas.com. Bug reports that include a GrabCanvas recording of the bug get fixed fastest, for obvious reasons.
